The Black/Grey - Earth 2: Worlds End (2014)

The embodiment of Entropy and decay, The Grey (also known as the Black) was one of the five spirit beings that oversaw the running of the world. They were at odds with the other spirits, viewing humanity as failure and often leading to their Avatar Grundy clashing with the Green's Jade Warrior Alan Scott (The Green Lantern).

Having failed to destroy the world shortly after Scott was made champion of the Green, the Grey remained silent until Apokolips declared invasion on Earth.

"Drums of War"

The Grey travelled the the Parliament Enclave, where they and the other spirits declared that they would not allow the Furies of Apokolips to destroy the Earth, having sensed their arrival to the planet.

They put aside their differences with each other to forge this alliance, planning to unite the Avatrs together and act as a team.

"Arrival"

Following the death of Famine, the Grey continues their mission to guide the Avatars to each other, witnessing from the Parliament Enclave as both Grundy and Alan Scott are introduced to the Avatar of the White - Alan Scott's deceased lover Samuel Zhao.

"Sacrifice"

Due to their physical connection to their Avatar, the Grey suffered immense pain as Grundy was brutally attacked by the Huntress (who had been made into a Fury by DeSaad) and the other three Furies of Apokolips. Despite this, he was spurred by the Blue to fight through the agony to give their champions more strength.

"Birth"

The Grey remarked that their champions were no match for the Four Furies, declaring that their union had resulted in failure and that the world was doomed. However, the Red reassured them that there was hope that would turn the tide in their favour.

"The Last Gasp"

Following Deathspawn's breach of the Parliament Enclave, the Grey was grievously wounded by the creature, who had torn great gashes into through their belly. The injuries sustained by them were also felt by Grundy.

After Deathspawn broke through the floor and breached the core of the planet, the Green called for herself and Green Lantern to aid the Black.

"Survival"

Realising that Deathspawn was too powerful for them, The Black suggested to Alan that if he combined his abilities with the other Avatars, they may find the strength to bring him down before he can finish terraforming Earth into a power source for Apokolips. Using his power, he sent Lantern back to the planet's surface to enact their counter-strike.

Speaking to the assembled Avatars, they warned them that a larger threat was coming. As the Avatars merged as one, the Black declared that they were one for the first time in history.

"God Flesh"

The Grey/Black - Earth 2 - Earth 2 (2012)

One of the five elements that make up the Parliament of Earth, the Grey - also known as the Black -was the embodiment of death and decay. Like their fellow elemental spirtis, the Grey chose an organic host to represent them as their champion, granting them power.

Millions of years ago, before the Apokolips War that was tearing across the planet, the Grey and the other spirits joined forces to stop a threat from destroying the planet. That had been the only time that the Grey worked with the Parliament.

The Grey selected a deceased butcher to become their Avatar, who eventually took on the name Solomon Grundy. They had chosen their Avatar first.

After sensing that the world was weakened, the Grey decided that it was time for the planet to die, so that a new and stronger world could be born. To this end, they released Grundy and watched as he began to choke the world, starting with Washington D.C.

"Welcome to the Grey"

The Grey telepathically communicated to Green Lantern Alan Scott during his attempt to stop Grundy, recognising him as the "Jade Warrior" of the Green and expressing their stance that they would not negotiate with him. Remarking that they could not or would not stop Grundy from destroying the world, they added that their paladin was so powerful that even the Avatar would not be able to call him off.

The Grey explained their plan to remake the world from the dead, calling out that the Lantern would not be able to change their mind and that any attempt would be useless. Seeing that he would not give up without a fight, they proposed that that they could stay with him, promising Alan that he could be reunited with his deceased lover Samuel Zhao. To prove their point, they summoned the physical shape of Sam to tempt Alan into his surrender.

"End Times"

Witnessing Alan destroy Sam's construct, the Grey coldly informed the Green's Champion that Grundy would kill him and fulfil their wish. However, they are silenced by Scott's revelation that they had inadvertently revealed Grundy's weakness, witnessing their champion being banished to the moon and preventing them from continuing their destruction.

"Avatars"

The Grey gathered at the Parliament Enclave with The White, Green, Red, and Blue, doing their best to instruct their Avatars in how best to prevent the world from falling to the forces of Apokolips.

Kyle Nimbus - Earth 2 - Earth 2: Society (2015)

A refuge from Earth 2 who made his home on the newly colonised planet, Kyle Nimbus was the C.E.O of Nimbus Solutions, based in New Gotham. He was a meta-human with the ability to become intangible, even transforming into a mist-like substance.

Nimbus also had ties to the black market, with his enforcers running operations. He was a genius intelect with a background in chemistry, able to replicate the Miraclo formula with an additional component that would make the user become his mindless servant. Nimbus supplied this formula to Hourman, making him his unwilling security officer.

"One Nation Indivisible Chapter Three: Running on Empty"

Whilst working late in his office, he was unphased by Batman smashing through the roof, sarcastically asking if he had not considered using the front door. Asked to identify himself to the vigilante, he mockingly claimed to recognise him, listing off several heroes before telling the unamused Batman that he knew that all along and was just trying to make a joke. Demanding to know why Batman was there, adding that he was going to be charging him for a replacement skylight, he listened coldly as the hero told him that his company was to be shut down.

He retorted to Batman's claims that his monoploly over power cells was leading to an increase in crime in Gotham by reminding him that it was a free market, remarking that all he did was produce an item that was needed by all and had no control of what happened to it after trading. He sneered at the hero, musing that he was providing a service to the people, no matter how dangerous the power cells were.

Stating that Batman had no authority to shut down his company, Kyle called for the meta-human Hourman to come in, adding that since had suspected one of the Wonders would try and disrupt his operations, he would form a partnership with Tyler as his own security officer to protect him.

Nimbus sat back and watched as Hourman and Batman fought with each other, however soon got bored and decided he would get out of the crossfire. As he left, he casually told Batman that Hourman was working for him because of mind control, before demanding that the meta-human cleaned up his office after he had killed the vigilante.

He smirked at Batman's reaction to the discovery of his meta-human abilities, throwing the batarang that went straight through him back at the hero and piercing his arm.

"One Nation Indivisible Chapter Four: Together Alone"

Fighting back against Red Arrow and Ted Grant, who had followed him on Batman's instructions, he arrogantly belittled them for not being able to hit him. With a powerful right hook, he sent Grant hurtling across the room, before continuing to mock them in his gaseous form.

Knocking Red Arrow down to the ground, Nimbus began punching Ted continuously, remarking that his increased tolerance for pain from his boxing days was impracticable and stupid. However, he was so focused on Grant that he allowed could not avoid a taser arrow being fired into his back by Red Arrow.

Left unconscious by the two heroes, Nimbus was taken into the custody.

"Gods and Monsters"

He screamed in terror as he backed away from Power Girl, panicked that they were ambushed.

Seeing Darkseid overpower Val Zod and Power Girl, he gleefully added that they should dispose of them.

"Grounded"

He and other members of the Court, stayed to watch Darkseid battle the numerous heroes of the world.

"End Times"

Arcanis helped Darkseid and his forces destroy several escape shuttles, stopping thousands of people from escaping from the dying Earth. Despite best efforts, he was unable to stop all the crafts from escaping the planet before it was engulfed by Apokolips.

The Healer's Daughter - Earth 2 - Earth 2 (2012)

A young Green Martian child born to a healer on Earth 2's Mars, the Healer's daughter had the power of precognition, able to see not only her own fate, but also the fate of her home and her mother. She witnessed her own death and burial, as well as her mother's promise to Darkseid that she would join his Furies of Apokolips as the bringer of Death, in return for a child she would call her own.

She also saw that her half-brother would become a threat to any planet that his father wanted, damning any planet to destruction and hellfire in the name of Darkseid and Apokolips.

"Origins"

Cradled by her mother beneath a tree, her mother happily played with her, until she was distracted by the arrival of the Apokoliptian legions. Carried off by the healer into the woods, she eventually died from starvation after her mother's milk dried up.

Her body was laid to rest in a grave beneath the clay of a tree that had managed to survive the purge, an effort which took almost all her mother's remaining strength and resolve to dig.

Her death had a deep impact on the healer, causing her longing to hold her once again. When Darkseid offered her the chance to bare his child, she eagerly accepted, believing that although she had lost one daughter, she would ensure that nobody would claim her blood again.

The Healer - Earth 2 - Earth 2 (2012)

A Green Martian healer was renowned over Mars for her love of animals and her people, the unnamed Martian was the mother of a young baby girl, who she used to nurse beneath the trees and the nearby river on her homeworld. She was said to sing to her patients and she healed them, songs that many would consider to be nonsense but comforting.

"Origins"

One day whilst nursing her child, the healer witnessed the arrival of DeSaad, Darkseid and the forces of Apokolips. Fleeing into the forest, she kept her baby close as she hid, going on the run from invaders.

However, over time she began to grow ill from starvation and hunger, becoming frailer and unable to produce milk for her daughter. Forced to watch as her people were slaughtered as warriors and slaves alike, her spirit was broken even further when her own baby died. Barely strong enough to bury her child beneath "a withered red tree", she weeped over the grave with such grief that Darkseid sensed her pain.

Taken as a slave, she was soon brought before the ruler of Apokolips by Barda and Steppenwolf. Keeping silent at first as he remarked on how, despite being starved, beaten, and tortured by forced to walk to the "pits" by climbing over the corpses of the slain Martians, did not eat, drink or speak she managed to survive, the Healer told him that her daughter was dead and that she would live to keep her memory intact. He went on to muse that she was strong enough to be on the edge of death and lived. Impressed by her resilience, he offered her the chance to be a mother again, promising that her child will be the destroyer of worlds and would be hers to love, but only if she became his harbinger of Death. Overjoyed by his promise and the chance to hold her own child again, she quickly agreed, kissing him on the lips.

At some point in time, the Healer became pregnant with Darkseid's child, joining his fellow champions of War, Pestilence and Famine to become Death, the final Fury in the elite strike force the Four Furies of Apokolips.

Upon hearing what she had done, the remaining martians labelled her "traitor, coward and whore", cursing her for becoming a part of the legion that conquered them all. However she and her sisters crushed any resistance and opposition to the rule of the Lord of Apokolips. She eventually became the last Martian.
