The Black/Grey - Earth 2: Worlds End (2014)

The embodiment of Entropy and decay, The Grey (also known as the Black) was one of the five spirit beings that oversaw the running of the world. They were at odds with the other spirits, viewing humanity as failure and often leading to their Avatar Grundy clashing with the Green's Jade Warrior Alan Scott (The Green Lantern).

Having failed to destroy the world shortly after Scott was made champion of the Green, the Grey remained silent until Apokolips declared invasion on Earth.

"Drums of War"

The Grey travelled the the Parliament Enclave, where they and the other spirits declared that they would not allow the Furies of Apokolips to destroy the Earth, having sensed their arrival to the planet.

They put aside their differences with each other to forge this alliance, planning to unite the Avatrs together and act as a team.

"Arrival"

Following the death of Famine, the Grey continues their mission to guide the Avatars to each other, witnessing from the Parliament Enclave as both Grundy and Alan Scott are introduced to the Avatar of the White - Alan Scott's deceased lover Samuel Zhao.

"Sacrifice"

Due to their physical connection to their Avatar, the Grey suffered immense pain as Grundy was brutally attacked by the Huntress (who had been made into a Fury by DeSaad) and the other three Furies of Apokolips. Despite this, he was spurred by the Blue to fight through the agony to give their champions more strength.

"Birth"

The Grey remarked that their champions were no match for the Four Furies, declaring that their union had resulted in failure and that the world was doomed. However, the Red reassured them that there was hope that would turn the tide in their favour.

"The Last Gasp"

Following Deathspawn's breach of the Parliament Enclave, the Grey was grievously wounded by the creature, who had torn great gashes into through their belly. The injuries sustained by them were also felt by Grundy.

After Deathspawn broke through the floor and breached the core of the planet, the Green called for herself and Green Lantern to aid the Black.

"Survival"

Realising that Deathspawn was too powerful for them, The Black suggested to Alan that if he combined his abilities with the other Avatars, they may find the strength to bring him down before he can finish terraforming Earth into a power source for Apokolips. Using his power, he sent Lantern back to the planet's surface to enact their counter-strike.

Speaking to the assembled Avatars, they warned them that a larger threat was coming. As the Avatars merged as one, the Black declared that they were one for the first time in history.

"God Flesh"

As Alan morns over losing Sam once again, absorbing him into his body along with his fellow Avatars, The Black reassures Alan that his lover and the power of every element was his to control.

Arcanis - Prime Earth - Earth 2: Worlds End (2014)

A high ranking member of the Court of Apokolips, Arcanis was the Keeper of Lore and had memorised the entire blood soaked history of Apokolips and its rulers.

He was loyal to Darkseid, helping to rule the planet while his master gathered his strength within the Mobius Chamber.

He was seemingly crushed in the Hall of Lore after a violent confrontation with Khalid Ben-Hassin, who fought to regain the Helmet of Fate that was stolen from him by Arcanis and the warlock Thrall.

"Drums of War"

Interrupting the rest of the squabbling Court, Arcanis angrily snapped at them to be careful, comparing them to children with no capability to remember the past. He went on to remind the others about the true nature of Apokolips, adding that the Avatar for the planet will rise as it had done long ago and help the New Gods conquer.

"Gods and Monsters"

Assembling the other members of the Court to speak with the envoy of the planet, he remarked that Apokolips' plan to do nothing and hold off to allow the Furies to bring Earth to its knees. He smirked as Apokolips murdered one of the court in cold blood for the suggestion of fleeing.

"Arrival"

Upon hearing the Hornblower ring out, Arcanis inquired to know what the sound meant. He listens in silence as Apokolips declared that the planet will soon feast on Earth.

"Release"

Arcanis and The Lowlest reported back to Apokolips about Fury, Big Barda and Mister Miracle's attack on the planet and Paternus, as well as the assault on the Mobius Chamber.

"Father's Day"

Met by Fury, Arcanis was wary of the young New God/Amazon, declaring that he did not trust her. However he went on to question her allegiance and loyalty to Darkseid, pressing to learn about the death of her mother Diana and her campaign with her father Steppenwolf. He was pleased to learn of how she had murdered her Amazon sisters with great zeal, accepting that she was telling the truth. He promised to take down these records so her name can live on in Apokolips lore.

He was summoned to the throne room to stand by Darkseid, as the later met with Terry Sloan to negotiate the destruction of Earth 2 only.

"Betrayals"

Arcanis bowed before his master as Apokolips gladly relinquished the throne for Darkseid, informing the lord of the planet that the destruction of the moon was preparing Earth for its subjugation. He went on to add that the since the Hornblower had sounded, the planet's rebirth cycle would begin shortly.

"Sacrifice"

Staying close to Darkseid in the Tower of the Court, he witness as Barda was ordered to return to Earth and awaken the Parademons for a final assault on humanity.

"Hope"

Arcanis nervously recounted the news that Red Tornado and the other Kryptonians had breached the Tower, just moments before the furious team erupted through the floor and attacked the assembled members of the Court. He screamed in terror as he backed away from Power Girl, panicked that they were ambushed.

Seeing Darkseid overpower Val Zod and Power Girl, he gleefully added that they should dispose of them.

"Grounded"

He and other members of the Court, stayed to watch Darkseid battle the numerous heroes of the world.

"End Times"

Arcanis helped Darkseid and his forces destroy several escape shuttles, stopping thousands of people from escaping from the dying Earth. Despite best efforts, he was unable to stop all the crafts from escaping the planet before it was engulfed by Apokolips.

Darkseid assembled him and the rest of the court to discuss plans to conquer a new Earth.

Deathspawn - Earth 2 - Earth 2: Worlds End (2014)

A New God/Martian hybrid, Deathspawn was the son of Death and Darkseid who was born in the final days of Earth 2.

He had the power to poison the world and transmute both organic and inorganic matter into molten metal.

"Rebirth"

Following the defeat of his mother and her fellow Furies, Deathspawn erupted from her chest, killing Death as he proclaimed that he had been born to conquer the planet in the name of his father and Apokolips. Stating that the heroes were beneath him, he easily withstood a combined assault before burying deep into the ground, travelling towards the Parliament of Earth and the source of the Avatars power.

"Run"

Succeeding the seemingly impossible and breaching the Parliament Enclave - a place with no physical location tangible to the planet - Deathspawn set about attacking the Red, Grey, White and the Blue, physically hurting their Avatars on the planet's surface as he went on his rampage. Turning his attention to the Green, he grabbed them by the throat as they made an urgent plea for Green Lantern to help save them.

"The Last Gasp"

Deathspawn was attacked by Green Lantern and his ring, forcing him to drop the Green and fight their Avatar. As he grabbed Alan, he roared that he would use his powers to seed the planet and make Earth an energy source for Apokolips, throwing him to the ground. Leaving the Parliament for dead, he tunnelled deeper through the mantle and towards the core.
